About Mailmodo
Mailmodo is an AI powered email marketing platform best known for interactive AMP emails that let recipients complete actions such as surveys, bookings and carts without leaving the inbox. Operating from San Francisco and Bangalore, Mailmodo serves SMB and mid market customers across SaaS, fintech, ecommerce and edtech.
TL;DR
Mailmodo runs two motions on the same weekly scoring engine: find the accounts ready to grow, and catch the ones starting to slip.

Expansion: finding the accounts that will actually grow
Upsell signals that convert into revenue, not just another list.
The problem
A small customer success team covers a long tail of SMB and mid market accounts. Expansion conversations were prioritised on intuition and on whoever had been in touch most recently. With no reliable way to tell which accounts were genuinely ready to buy more, effort spread evenly across the book, and the accounts with real headroom got no more attention than the rest.
What RetainSure did
RetainSure scores every active account every week, combining billing history, product usage and customer conversations into a single direction for each account: churn, neutral, or upsell. Upsell flagged accounts arrive with the evidence already attached, including the usage trend, the plan limit warning and the billing event that triggered the signal.
In mid 2026 the scoring engine moved to an LLM, and every score now ships with a written, dated rationale the team can act on directly.
The impact
Across January to September 2026, accounts RetainSure flagged for upsell were 2.5x more likely to actually grow revenue than accounts it did not flag. The effect holds in every account size band and is statistically significant. Among flagged accounts that did grow, the median increase was about 40%, measured from the date the flag was raised.
Retention: catching risk early enough to act on it
One in five at risk accounts brought back to healthy.
The problem
Churn tended to surface only after the customer had already decided. The warning signs sat in three different places: a support thread turning into frustration, sending volume quietly collapsing, an invoice going unpaid. By the time an account looked obviously at risk, there was rarely enough runway left to change the outcome.
What RetainSure did
The same weekly scoring assigns every account a risk direction and a confidence level, with dated, specific supporting evidence drawn from usage, billing and conversations. The team works the flagged list and opens a conversation.
Because RetainSure re-scores every account the following week, recovery is visible rather than assumed. An account moving out of the risk direction is an observable event, not a judgement call.
The impact
Of the accounts RetainSure flagged at risk, about one in five returned to healthy within a quarter, moving out of the risk direction on a later scoring run. Roughly 85% were still customers three months after being flagged.
